What it is

The perfect wine climate, wherever you need it.

Not everyone has a basement to bury a cellar. A climate-controlled cellar solves exactly that: it actively recreates the ideal storage microclimate (a stable 12–14°C, 60–70% humidity, no vibration or light) within a bespoke room that integrates into the living area, under a staircase, in a pantry or a restaurant dining room. The same technical rigour as an underground cellar, without depending on the subsoil.

Investment

What it costs: a bespoke climate-controlled cellar.

Elite technical features

Active control,
high-precision engineering.

  • Stable temperature ±0.5°C. Wine-specific cooling, not domestic air conditioning. No sharp swings.
  • Active humidity 60–70% RH. Ultrasonic humidifier with digital control that keeps corks from drying out.
  • Anti-vibration cooling. Decoupled, silenced cooling unit: vibration never reaches the bottles.
  • Insulation with thermal-bridge break. High-density PIR and vapour barrier that cut thermal load and consumption.
  • Hermetic enclosure. Double-sealed door or high-insulation glazing for a glass-fronted cellar.
  • Solid wood or corten steel racking. French oak, American walnut or oxidised steel, made to measure.
  • Warm UV-free lighting. 2,700 K LED with no ultraviolet radiation, with programmable scenes.
  • Multi-temperature zones. Option to set serving-temperature ranges (5–18°C).
  • Architectural integration. As a glazed feature in the living room, under a staircase, in a pantry or restaurant.
  • Remote digital control. Temperature and humidity monitoring from your phone, with deviation alarms.

Climate-controlled or underground cellar

Which is the solution for you?

If you have a basement or space to bury, an underground cellar uses the soil's thermal inertia and lowers consumption. If you don't, or you want the cellar to be part of a living space, a climate-controlled cellar delivers exactly the same storage climate through active control, installable in any room. In both cases the result for the wine is identical.

  • No basement. A climate-controlled cellar needs no burial or major construction.
  • Glass-fronted cellar. Optional glazed enclosure to turn it into a design feature.
  • Flexible integration. It adapts to the available space, including in renovations.
  • Efficiency. High-density insulation cuts thermal load and consumption.
  • Full control. Same digital monitoring and same storage guarantees as an underground cellar.

The wine climate, under control

You don't need to bury wine to protect it. You need precision.

Frequently asked questions

About climate-controlled cellars.

What is a climate-controlled wine cellar?

It is a bespoke, fully insulated room with a wine-specific cooling system that keeps a stable temperature (typically 12–14°C) and humidity within 60–70% RH. Unlike an underground cellar, it does not need to be buried: it can be integrated into any room of the home, restaurant or hotel.

How does it differ from an underground cellar?

An underground cellar uses the soil's thermal inertia and requires a basement or burial works. A climate-controlled cellar actively generates that same climate with precision equipment, so it can be installed on any floor, with no major construction.

What temperature and humidity does it maintain?

A stable temperature of 12–14°C with ±0.5°C tolerance and 60–70% relative humidity through active humidification. Multi-temperature zones (5–18°C) can be configured for serving.

Does the cooling system make noise or vibrate?

No. We use low-noise anti-vibration equipment, decoupled from the racking structure. Vibration is one of the main enemies of wine ageing, so the cooling unit is isolated and acoustically silenced.

Where can it be installed?

In practically any space: under a staircase, in a pantry, in a living room as a glazed feature, in a restaurant dining room or a hotel suite.

How do I request a quote?

We need the dimensions of the space (even schematic), its location, the target capacity and the deadline. Joan Serrate replies within 48 hours with an initial proposal, with no obligation, online or at our Barcelona showroom.
